The Getchell Companies
Precast Concrete Manufacturers Insurance Program · New England

Precast concrete insurance, cast to spec.

One precast concrete manufacturers insurance program for the whole operation: the plant, the forms, the crews, the fleet, and the products liability that follows every piece for decades. From a single yard to multi-plant operations, ask about it by email or phone.

Coverage matrix

Every line a precast operation needs, on one program.

Precast risk doesn't end at the plant gate — it rides on the truck, hangs from the hook, and lives inside structures for decades. The program is written so the pieces fit together without gaps.

Line
Coverage
What it protects
GL/PROD

General liability & completed ops

Premises, operations and — above all — products–completed operations: the coverage that responds when a product problem surfaces years after it shipped. In precast, this is the line that gets sized first.

WC

Workers' compensation

Plant crews working under overhead cranes, form strippers, yard and QC staff, drivers and set crews — paired with safety and silica-program support that protects people and the experience mod.

PROP

Property & business income

Batch plants, mixers, overhead cranes, curing systems and the forms and molds that are your real production capacity — plus the income that stops when they do.

AUTO

Commercial auto

Boom trucks, flatbeds, heavy-haul tractors and oversize permitted loads, with the loading and unloading exposure placed deliberately.

IM

Inland marine & cargo

Product in transit, under the hook and on the pins until acceptance — plus cranes, rigging and equipment that travels to the site.

POLL

Pollution liability

Washout water, admixture and fuel storage, yard runoff at the plant, and products pollution for wastewater products in the field.

UMB

Umbrella

Excess limits over liability, auto and employers liability, sized to the specs, contracts and public work your customers actually require.

Segments we write

From the form to the final set.

Every product line carries a different exposure map. Pick yours below — each page covers what actually goes wrong in that segment and what responds.

Why The Getchell Companies

Thirty years insuring the people who build New England.

We combine risk management with insurance placement — for manufacturers with one yard and for operations running multiple plants. The approach is the same either way.

Carriers that understand precast

Every carrier partner in the program must clear strict financial standards and bring the completed-operations appetite, claims resources and engineering support that concrete products demand. No generalist paper.

Risk management that lowers premium

Silica programs, crane and rigging practices, QC documentation and contract review reduce the risk before it's priced. When a risk shrinks, so does what you pay to insure it — and your renewals show it.

The most market access in the Northeast

As an independent agency with unusually broad carrier appointments, we match each producer to the right market instead of forcing every plant into one box.

How it works
  1. Reach out

Email precast@getchellcompanies.com or call 978-897-7773 and ask about the Precast Concrete Manufacturers Insurance Program. A short conversation about what you cast and how you deliver it is all we need to start.

  2. We review the operation

Current policies, loss runs, contracts, completed-ops limits and the seams — boom trucks, product under the hook, delegated design — where generic programs leave gaps.

  3. You get a program, not a quote stack

One coordinated proposal across liability, comp, property, auto, inland marine, pollution and umbrella, with the carriers and limits explained in plain terms.

Precast insurance FAQ

Common questions, straight answers.

The short version of the conversations we have with producers every week. For anything specific to your plant, call 978-897-7773.

What insurance does a precast concrete manufacturer need?
The core program is general liability with strong products–completed operations limits, workers' compensation, property (including forms, molds and business income), commercial auto, inland marine for product in transit and under the hook, and an umbrella. Depending on what you cast, professional liability and pollution coverage join the list.
Why is completed-operations coverage the centerpiece of precast insurance?
Because precast claims arrive late. Products go into structures and systems where a defect may not surface for years, and one problem can span every project a product shipped to. Completed-operations limits, continuity of coverage and how your tail is structured matter more in precast than in almost any other manufacturing class.
Does workers' comp or liability coverage address silica exposure?
Workers' comp responds to occupational disease claims from employees, but the bigger lever is prevention — respirable crystalline silica is a regulated exposure in concrete production, and a documented silica program protects your people and your experience mod at the same time. That's part of the risk-management side of this program.
Who is eligible for the Precast Concrete Manufacturers Insurance Program?
Precast producers across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Rhode Island and Connecticut — from a single yard to multi-plant operations — including structural, underground and utility, septic and wastewater, architectural, site and roadway products, and the delivery and crane-set operations that go with them.
